🎯 HIT THE BULLSEYE

  • The Tomb of Anubis boasts one of the most captivating reveals I've encountered in an escape room. The initial puzzle sets the stage for an unforgettable experience, leaving our group in awe and excitement. What's remarkable is that this thrilling reveal is just the beginning of many surprises that await within the tomb.

  • The design of the puzzles is exceptionally well-done. Each puzzle integrates seamlessly with the overarching storyline, with a journal provided to guide players through the challenges. This journal proves to be a crucial tool, as it offers clues and insights necessary to navigate through the intricacies of the tomb. Additionally, the multi-linear puzzle flow allows for individual exploration and collaboration, ensuring that everyone stays engaged and immersed in the game.

🧩 MISSED THE MARK

  • This room is not your typical 60-minute escape experience. In fact, it's one of the most complex and puzzle-dense rooms I've ever encountered. While some may enjoy the challenge, most groups will find it difficult to fully explore and appreciate everything this room has to offer. It's a shame because the room is visually stunning and incredibly fun to explore.

  • Success in this room heavily relies on reading the journals provided. Nearly every puzzle is described in these journals, so if your group is not fond of reading or fails to utilize them effectively, you'll likely struggle to progress. This aspect of the room may not appeal to everyone, but for those who enjoy diving deep into puzzles and unraveling intricate mysteries, it's an experience worth undertaking.

🏹 TAKE A SHOT?

"Tomb of Anubis" is undeniably one of 13th Gate's standout rooms. However, its difficulty level can be overwhelming if you're not prepared for it. Even as a group of seasoned enthusiasts, we technically did not escape the room and made it out after the 60 mins were over at 60:27. There's a particular section of the game that few ever reach, and when asking for a hint in this area, the game master did not know how to properly give a hint. This aspect of the design is flawed and limits the experience for many players.

Despite its challenges, "Tomb of Anubis" offers an immersive and detailed experience that we were eager to explore. The intricately designed space captivated us at every turn, and we were constantly anticipating what the next puzzle would bring. While the puzzles themselves are well-crafted and flow seamlessly, there's simply an overwhelming quantity of them. Frequent hints may be necessary to keep pace, but they can also detract from the overall experience.

To truly enjoy "Tomb of Anubis", it's crucial to understand and accept the abundance of complex puzzles it presents. If you're prepared for the challenge and willing to ask for hints as needed, you'll have a better chance of navigating through the game successfully. Additionally, extending the time limit to 90 minutes could enhance the experience, allowing players more time to explore and appreciate the remarkable detail that 13th Gate has meticulously crafted.
