📖 THE STORY
During your road trip through Nevada, your car suddenly breaks down. After calling for help, at a nearby payphone, you learn it’ll be quite some time before a mechanic can arrive and since the desert nights can get very cold you decide to look for shelter. Luckily, the neon lights from a nearby motel catch your attention and you head over in search of a room…

🎯 HIT THE BULLSEYE
The story begins in an immersive manner as we appear to be literally driving along a Nevadan highway. We liked how such a simple, yet effective special effect, could add such a layer of whimsy to the game at such an early stage.
The overall look of the game is thematically strong, particularly with the paint and props found in the first room. There are many interesting and joyous elements for you to look at and even interact with, but not too many that you become overwhelmed.
The story telling component of the game was undoubtedly the strongest part. It provided an immersive and interactive experience that elevates it above other standard escape rooms. Here, our journey took a sharp turn about midway through. Initially, our instinct was that we’d be met by some axe-wielding maniac, like in the "Psycho" movies… however, that was not to be; although that’s not to say someone, or something else, wasn’t waiting for us…
The puzzles were all thematically linked to the story. The actions you take, particularly in the first room, were logical and conducive to the precession of the story. The second room is smaller, offering a sillier selection of tasks, before things get a bit more serious and quizzical for the remainder. Overall, we enjoyed how interactive the whole game was and that it offered something ‘different’ to what escapers may typically be used to.
Players are rewarded with a certificate at the end of the game which was a welcomed small memento of our time inside this unique room.
🧩 MISSED THE MARK
As interactive and light as the puzzles were, it would have been good to have seen more cooperative and team-based challenges. We found the climax of the game to be a little flat, despite actually being playful.
We weren’t sure if the game was finished or not and one of our team hadn’t seen the film the ending tried to emulate, therefore, missing the ‘joke’, which we naturally explained to him after.
🏹 TAKE A SHOT?
Yes. "Motel Nevada" is definitely worth playing for all levels of escapers. The story offers a fun twist and the aesthetics are great. We recommend playing as a group of three due to the lack of multiplayer puzzles and some tight room spaces.
ℹ️ ADDITIONAL INFO
Parking is not available on site. Free parking is available on the residential streets either side of the escape room.
