🎯 HIT THE BULLSEYE

  • When playing a pitch dark game, typically the game remains in darkness throughout. However, we appreciated the unique aspect of this room where we could gradually adjust to the natural setting after removing our blindfolds as the game progressed. The inclusion of target lights that illuminated as we solved puzzles created a sense of "communication" with the kidnapper, almost as if he was "rewarding" us for overcoming his challenges.

  • The "jump scares" were not intended to frighten, but rather served as clues to guide us towards solutions.

  • From the outset, there were clues subtly integrated that ultimately led to a meta puzzle at the conclusion, providing a surprising and satisfying "wow" moment. The game did not abruptly end, offering a conclusive and fulfilling ending.

  • The game design prioritized player safety, addressing concerns such as potential splinters in dark rooms by eliminating such issues in this room. The creators also thoughtfully spaced out stations to allow players to move around comfortably, although due to the linear nature of the game, it may not be suitable for large groups.

  • A variety of tools were utilized to uncover clues, and we found the diverse puzzle types in the game to be engaging and satisfying.

🧩 MISSED THE MARK

  • Loved every aspect of this game. It was an overwhelming experience for the senses. If I had to be critical, I would suggest that the GM should embody the character of the kidnapper more when preparing the players for the room and providing hints.

🏹 TAKE A SHOT?

"Kidnapping 2: Afraid of the Dark" is a captivating sequel to the original Kidnap game, offering a standalone experience that does not require prior knowledge of its predecessor. What sets this game apart is the unique input from Breakout Games' managers, infusing it with a fresh perspective that distinguishes it from their other game designs.

From the moment we delved into the storyline, exploring the mystery behind our abduction and uncovering the identity of the kidnapper, we were hooked. The intricate games orchestrated by the captor added layers of suspense and intrigue, creating a truly immersive and haunting experience. Navigating through darkness added an extra layer of challenge, heightening our senses and making each puzzle-solving moment even more exhilarating. This game marked our third venture into the realm of darkness, and it quickly became our favorite, leaving a lasting impression with its blend of storytelling, gameplay, and atmosphere.
