"Level Up" is Escape Hunt's newest DIY Escape Game. You'll need to have a printer (preferably color), a scissor and a Facebook account.
The theme of the game was build around 80's computer games. When we found a mysterious old console in the attic, we released a virus by accident. Now it's up to us to beat the virus one level at a time until we shut it down for good!
We loved the graphic design of the game packet but it does use a lot of ink (and they are expensive!). At the beginning of the game, you will be informed on which pages are must prints. I would advise looking over the puzzles and seeing which ones have to be printed in color and which ones could be printed in black and white. We printed the entire packet in black and white and just hand wrote in the colors and it worked out fine. It would be great if all the printable game designers could keep this in mind while designing the game.
The puzzles were created in a way that every one of them reminded us of a video game we've played in the 80s. It was nice to be able to feel like we're playing the actual game just by visualizations. If you are a good hacker/decoder, you'll have a lot of fun with some of the puzzles. If you have kids, we would definitely recommend printing the game in color. There was a few puzzles that they could actually play with even after the game was completed. The puzzles were not too difficult so it would be a perfect fun thing to do as a family. They will definitely get a kick out of the bonus puzzle!
