📖 THE STORY

The Sheriff of Nottingham has been kidnapped! The ransom demands that you find and bring the kidnappers the legendary golden arrow, in return for his life. You’ve only just been located and brought in to complete the task - and you have only one hour left before - well, it doesn’t bear thinking about! Can you find the arrow in time?!

🎯 HIT THE BULLSEYE

  • The game starts in the Sheriff’s rather grand office where he works and rests. But it is no ordinary office! Some items around the room reveal their secrets as you explore, and suddenly a secret that usually remains hidden is revealed.

  • One of my favourite parts was not a puzzle at all but something you had to do to progress! There are some extremely clever reveals, backed by technology of course, but they still seem of the time and not out of place.

  • The decoration and the environment of the room are spot-on, totally immersive and transport you to the age. There is a gentle music playing which adds to the atmosphere.

  • The puzzles focus mainly on locks and manipulation of items and the environment rather than codes, logic puzzles or the like.

🧩 MISSED THE MARK

  • It is very dark in the rooms. We resorted to turning our phone torch on at one point to see what we were doing! Of course this is all done on purpose for atmosphere so not really a criticism, just a heads-up!

  • One puzzle was a little ambiguous and made us ask for our one and only hint (delivered in a clever way) - but we spent a lot of time on this going down the wrong route as the actual answer wasn’t that clear.

  • Just a few more puzzles to do would be nice! We escaped in 31 minutes which was a great achievement but would have happily spent a lot more time in there doing things.

🏹 TAKE A SHOT?

The game is very linear, and there was just enough to keep the 3 of us busy. A lot of communication and working together is required, but the spaces are narrow and dark so it's good that it is limited to 5. This room will thrill any history buff, Robin Hood fan (and you're in Nottingham so you'd better be!) or looking for a very atmospheric room with some clever tasks and surprises. It does call for some dexterity as well as climbing and crawling, so a great one for kids and don't wear your best jeans!! Pros should escape this room in a very short time so don't rush, just enjoy the authentic experience and good luck!
