🎯 HIT THE BULLSEYE
I personally enjoyed the little "test" that was given prior to entering the room (yes, I don't mind a bit of challenging Math outside of the 60 minute timer). It felt like an entrance exam into the academy and a little warm up before the real challenge!
The props and decor had us thinking about scenes from Harry Potter right away. As we explored the room, various "magical" things would happen.
One special tool that wizards use all the time was cleverly used in this room to give different types of "magic" reveal. We really liked the way they paired it with puzzle variations.
The artwork in this room is pretty amazing. They clearly depicted things that would remind you of the wizard world.
🧩 MISSED THE MARK
The lighting in the room makes it difficult to see certain clues. There was a "search and final" puzzle that took us a while due to this issue. The clue that we needed to find was also quite small as the search tool that was provided also minimized our search parameter. Also perhaps providing one more tool might help with the search rather than depending on one player since the puzzle is linear so the rest of the players essentially can only wait for a result. One other puzzle's clues were also pretty difficult to see. Perhaps enclosing it in a darker space would help.
Since there are various areas we could explore in the room, when we activated a door by solving a certain puzzle, we were unsure where and what opened. Perhaps a light source or sound could help with this.
We had to use a bit of "trial and error" during one of the latter puzzles as we're unsure the description of the prop with what was contained in the bottle.
🏹 TAKE A SHOT?
This game is pretty linear. I would recommend a smaller group as the space also gets a bit tighter as you journey on. Anyone who loves Harry Potter or just wizardry in general can really enjoy themselves in the "Wizard Academy". If you are lucky enough to graduate then definitely challenge yourself with their "Criminally Insane Asylum ". You might want to take a sneak peek at our video above to see why!
