📖 THE STORY

The year is 1993. You just returned a tape to a video rental store but suddenly remembered you forgot to rewind the tape! Rewind fees are pretty outrageous so you must try to get the tape out somehow before the store opens in an hour!

🎯 HIT THE BULLSEYE

• The storyline and set design brought back a lot of memories from the 90s. Remember "Blockbuster"? Do kids these days even know what VHS is anymore? We also enjoyed the humor components such as rewinding video tape fees, funny VHS commercials, etc...

• The goal of this room was not to escape but to break in instead. It was quite enjoyable to reverse the concept for once.

• The puzzle designer was able to implement some really creative visual ways for the clues and solutions in this game.
  

🧩 MISSED THE MARK

• Some props were used multiple times as input or clue devices. We were unsure at one point if we still needed to go back to a certain item or not.

• The hint system had some preset messages but they were not really relevant to what we were asking. It's best if the hints could be customized instead as this could cause delays in the game process.

• The last puzzle was confusing as the clues it was using had several red herrings in the room. We were unsure what we were supposed to use to solve the puzzle. There were several approaches that could be used to get to various solutions.

• The ending could have had a "sound of victory" as once the mission had been completed, there was a bit of waiting time for the game master to come into the room and we were unsure if the game had ended or not.
  

🏹 TAKE A SHOT?

This was a linear game but during the game, you'll encounter information gathering that would require teamwork. My favorite parts of the game were the moments when we discovered the visual reveals. The venue considers this room to be their easiest game so we started with this one and played the rest of them back-to-back. You'll be able to search our website to find the rest of the reviews. If you are new at escape rooms, we suggest you start with this game. We love the story concept and wish there would be more unique themes like this from Exit 4 Escape Rooms in the future!
