📖 THE STORY
The Tomachevsky theater troupe is about to start its final performance in St. Petersburg’s largest theater. During the height of the Cold War, your informant has arranged a critical meeting to provide you with vital information. Your target, the wealthy Russian oligarch Aleksandrov, is in attendance with classified defense documents. He must hand these documents over to the theater's director, a former KGB operative.
Your team of secret agents must discreetly infiltrate the backstage of this grand venue and retrieve the top-secret documents. The clock is ticking, the performance lasts only 60 minutes, and you must escape before it ends, or risk being discovered.

🎯 HIT THE BULLSEYE
Although we had expected a more opulent design for the room, it still held a certain whimsy for us. There were just enough props and decorative items to convince us of our surroundings, which included some fun Soviet hats, which we of course wore, and numerous theatrical posters. The room also played classical music continuously, something we appreciated and merrily hummed along to.
Of all the rooms at Friscape this also had the most interesting layout, although nothing too ‘wow’, it still impressed us since we had to split up in order to complete with on the puzzles.
As with the layout and interior decoration, this room also contained the most interesting set of puzzles. There was some dexterity, code breaking and decryption, searching and observation, as well as classic logic tests. We liked the cooperative challenges the most and were happy to see them included.
🧩 MISSED THE MARK
The room certainly has a unique and interesting story, we just wished that it held some evolution once the game commenced. Unfortunately, there were no twists and we learnt nothing else about Aleksandrov or his motives.
One of the puzzles relies on knowing the rules of chess, specifically how each piece moves. We were fortunate to have this knowledge, but players who aren’t familiar with chess would either need to guess the moves or ask the Game Master for assistance.
🏹 TAKE A SHOT?
As already suggested, this was our favourite of the five rooms at Friscape. It offers a decent amount of immersion and charm, and a varied and satisfying number of puzzles to complete. Due to the limited amount of space, this is a room which I would advise to play as either a 2- or 3-person team.
