📖 THE STORY

Everyone knows about the strange old orphanage and the cruel experiments that occurred there. As a team of journalists, you approach the now abandoned site, with the sole purpose of uncovering what had happened to the poor children. You have one hour to collect as many clues as you can before the nun's spirit comes to find you!

🎯 HIT THE BULLSEYE

  • We were impressed with the scale and quality of the build; it was actually larger than we were expecting and all the materials were of a high quality. There was also a good number of props to create an immersive environment and help deliver the story of what had transpired here. We certainly found out more about "The Orphanage" as we progressed.

  • The rooms have an eeriness about them, despite not having any special effects, such as smoke and lighting, etc. However, that said, there were a couple of ‘surprises’ installed throughout the rooms which the game master freely used to create some fun jump scares.

  • Of the three rooms at this location, we agreed that this had the most interesting set of puzzles, which also consisted of at least four cooperative tasks. Overall, each thing related someway to the story and our setting; another appreciated element.

  • The rooms are spacious and are designed in conjunction with the puzzles, to have you moving back and forth constantly throughout. We found this gave the game a more dynamic dimension, plus we could enjoy the visuals longer.

🧩 MISSED THE MARK

  • We didn’t find any points worth mentioning in this area. Overall, this is a solid entry level escape room.

🏹 TAKE A SHOT?

Even though it was the easiest of the three rooms we played at GAME OVER Luterbach, "The Orphanage" was the unanimous favorite. We found the puzzles to be the most satisfying to complete, both by the level of fun achieved, but also because of how they related to the story and environment. It was also the most immersive experience, with the jump scares being particularly memorable.

Although advertised as a horror room, beyond the two of three ‘jumpy’ moments, there is nothing scary inside. The room is well lit and there are no actors involved. Therefore, players worried about the horror factor need not be concerned; this is definitely a family friendly space.

ℹ️ ADDITIONAL INFO

  • Free parking is available on site.

  • There is a lobby area with comfortable seating, lockers, and some cold drinks for sale.

  • For the most part, this game is wheelchair accessible. However, I believe there is a small step to get into the last room, but likely a wheelchair could get over it with assistance from a team member.
