Going to the website, we were introduced to the title screen that gave us a brief tutorial on how to navigate the game. There was also a sheet that was used to keep track of our answers throughout. From there, we were introduced to the story in the form of a news article that hid a puzzle in itself. Once solved, we moved forward with the game.
The narration throughout Murder at Madgrove Manor stayed true to the theme, guiding us from puzzle to puzzle. The art and photos in the game, along with the puzzle art, perfectly captured the upper-class mansion setting. The navigation was smooth and mostly intuitive. A few puzzles also required us to interact with items which went smoothly. The only issue we had was that once we input the correct answer, the only thing that appeared was a small arrow on the corner of the screen. We would need to click it to progress. It would have been nice to have a more prominent indication that the answer was correct.

The puzzles had a variety of challenges including logic, matching and deciphering cryptic instructions. Each puzzle integrated seamlessly into the theme of the game and rooms that we travelled through. None of the puzzles felt overly difficult. The key was not to overthink any of them.
How the hints worked was after you were on a page for typically 2 minutes, a question mark would appear at the top corner. Click it and you will receive your hint. 2 other hints will appear on the page after a set period, to make sure you attempt the puzzle.

"Murder at Madgrove Manor" was a captivating mystery game that kept us entertained from start to finish. The puzzles were solid and easy to grasp, making sure we didn’t stall for too long. The story was intriguing and held our attention as we navigated through the game. We played with 5 people on a large, shared screen and found that it worked well as everyone got a chance to contribute to the solves. Additionally, the game can be purchased as a print and play version making it ideal for larger gatherings. This game is perfect for both murder mystery enthusiasts and those new to puzzling alike.
