Hint: Sometimes the answers lie right beneath you...
We are so excited to be in Fgura, Malta today and to be visiting the first escape room that opened in Malta – Can you Escape? Malta. As we tried our best to figure out the public bus system from Valetta, it wasn’t the easiest. If you decide to take the public bus, do give yourself ample time to figure out the ticket system and the routes. We will give a little tutorial in our Malta travel vlog soon. Once we got to the stop “Gallu”, we walked about 6 minutes until we reached the escape room. The area felt quite residential. Can you Escape? Malta has a big sign, so you can’t miss it. They are located on the second floor so be prepared for some stairs. Once you enter, there’s a smaller lobby waiting area but don’t worry if you have a large group as they also have a large waiting/party room that can accommodate more.
The room we are trying today is their newest room and we are already very excited by its title: “The Forbidden Castle”. Our mission today is to enter the Degabriele family’s castle to try to find four special gemstones that was stolen from Malta’s National Museum in 1800s. It seems like there’s a dark secret in this castle as no one that has entered ever returned. Our recommendations (which is also on their website) for this room is to wear comfortable shoes and clothing, no dangling jewelry and 18+ would be great for safety reasons. Although the game is not recommended for 2 players as there are a lot of puzzles, we decided to take the challenge anyways. We loved the design of the room and how it felt very castle-like. The up-keeping and maintenance was great and everything worked smoothly. There were a few new puzzle’s that we’ve never seen before in terms of how they were utilized. Teamwork is the key in this room. There was one tech puzzle that we thought didn’t really fit the era but other than that, everything else was pretty in line with the story. We liked how the ending gave a full explanation as to what the story was revealing. Mainly because we feel some escape rooms forget to do that and then the final puzzle just turns out to be something to just fit it in so that they can get a key and exit. We did manage to escape with minutes to spare but this is a fairly large room and you will need to “travel” quite a bit but that’s what made it different and fun!
We really enjoyed this room and hopefully we have a chance to return in the future to check out their other creations as currently they have two other rooms here called “Spaceship Escape” & “The Pub Escape”. Knowing how the owners are escape room enthusiastic themselves, we know these will not disappoint!
