🎯 HIT THE BULLSEYE
The idea of transforming the same space into (3) different escape rooms was genius. We have not seen anything like this before. There was no confusion during our gameplay, nor were there any moments where we felt like a puzzle or prop should not have belonged there.
The puzzles were designed to resemble piecing together lost memories as we solved each puzzle. It was beautifully crafted with music and dialogue.
The set design made us feel like we’ve entered a comic book story world. We loved the vibrant colors and secret features that were embedded inside of the props.
There was a sound puzzle that we were surprised on how the solution was “entered”. This is the first time we’ve encountered something like this.
If you have extra time at the end, do not miss out on the side missions. They were just adorable!
🧩 MISSED THE MARK
A color puzzle that had to do with wires needed some more light in the area. Due to the "red lighting", it was quite difficult to see.
One of the side missions had multiple solutions which we told the GM as we were the first group to discover this alternate answer.
A clue that informed us on how to input answers for future puzzles was reversed which caused confusion for the solution was to be entered.
One prop needed some updating as the clue was difficult to visualize since it was pretty faded.
🏹 TAKE A SHOT?
Each chapter of this trilogy was 45-minutes. You can play each of them separately and even out of order since at the beginning of each chapter there is a short video that provides a summary recap of the story thus far. If you must ask which is my favorite, I’ll have to say Chapter 2. The puzzles had the best flow and the most touching narrative. As enthusiasts, we love this trilogy concept (make sure to thank the GM's as it takes them about 10-minutes or so to reset and prep the room!). Currently, this room is just in a single room setting but I can totally envision a multi-room concept developing from this idea. I highly recommend playing all three chapters to fully absorb the story and check out the different ways the room was utilized for various puzzles. You’ll also realize that the chapters do get harder in terms of puzzles, but the gameplay will get easier as you familiarize yourself with how the room operates (some useful hints: check the iPad constantly, make sure to pay attention to the TV, and take notice of any changes in the room). If you are in the Ottawa area, check out this hidden gem!
