Coming back from a long weekend, you are eager to join your friend in the school’s theatre. You have plans to tackle recreating a classic fairytale, but you're struggling to give it the special twist that you know it deserves. Yet, as you enter the room to greet your friend you find no friend in sight… but, instead, a series of puzzles to get your brain juices flowing! Will you be able to solve all these puzzles and find your friend?

This online audio escape room takes place on Zoom where you are greeted by your game master. Before you game begins, your game master will provide you with an introduction to the story and offer a brief tutorial of how an audio escape room works. You will be provided with images of various parts of the room, but your main game play involves interacting with these images through your game master. In a physical escape room, you will pick up an object or flip through a book; in an audio escape room, you tell your game master what you want to do and they will respond with what happens and in some cases reveal more images of the item upon inspection. When you think you have solved something, you prompt your GM with the answer and what you want to do with it and you will be guided onto the next task. Whenever you get stuck you can ask the GM for a hint.

The key with these styles of game play is to talk about your puzzling aloud with your group. If you have an idea, tell the game master - the worst that happens is nothing happens!

The puzzles in "Game 15: Re-Writing History" are relatively light. They vary from searching puzzles, pattern identification, ciphers, and logic puzzles. As you circle around the room, there's puzzles & clues on each wall that will allow you to associate with others that you'll find along the way. When it comes to searching, anything goes. So be sure to ask the game master to check all areas of the room to ensure that you are not missing anything. We highly recommend having a pen and notepad available to jot down any information that you find.

"Game 15: Re-Writing History" is an excellent game option to help introduce people to escape rooms with its focus on working with the GM and encouragement to ask questions and collaborate aloud. This game is tailored for a young audience and provides plenty of different styles of puzzling to encourage inquiry and problem-solving. If you are interested in one with a bit more of a challenge, check out "Game 14: Bear To Dream", which follows a similar structure.
