Inspired by the radio play “Who is Max Winckler?”, you are plunged into one of his nightmares, set in 19th century Łódź. You begin finding symbols as you explore the streets. Where are they pointing you and will they be your ticket out of this terrifying dream?

The first thing we noticed when we signed in was the interface. Designed by Let Me Out in Poland, the interface allowed the GM to live stream the room, gave us a 360 view of the room, take notes, see our inventory, the ability to text chat and have all our zoom videos be shown at the bottom, all at the same time. At anytime, we could expand and full screen the live stream, the 360 view or our inventory to take a closer look at anything. The inventory included high resolution photos that allowed us to zoom in closer to inspect the items.
The quality of this room was also top notch. As we progressed through the game, we could see the quality and care that was put into this room, from the look of the street buildings and props. This is one room that made us wish we were there.

As the game started, we were played a high production quality video that gave us a nice creepy but not scary introduction to the game. One thing we noticed here was that the interface automatically muted all the participants when the video was playing. There were a few other videos that were played for us during the game that also mimicked this.
As we played the game, there were 2 people in the room guiding us through the game. One was the camera person and the other was the GM who was playing the game with us and performing our actions. Both did a marvelous job of letting us play the game on our own and guiding us at times when we were stuck.

There was a solid stream of puzzles throughout the game which included matching items and deciphering cryptic messages. This game can be played in person and digitally. One thing that stood out was that the puzzles were all fit to be played online as opposed to having us wait for an extended period of time as the GM completed them. Some of the puzzle solutions that were given were a Polish word but the GM easily was able to translate those for us. On the flip side though, any instructions or text required for the puzzle was given in both English and Polish which was nice.

With a different interface that allowed for ease of play to the great GMs leading us and to the great puzzles, this game was a pleasure to take part in. There were 6 of us for this game which allowed for a nice casual play but could easily be completed with less. This game had a nice creep factor to it but was never scary. If you are familiar with the radio play “Who is Max Winckler?”, you might find a few more easter eggs in the game, but unfortunately, we were unable to find a copy in English. If you ever get the chance to play this game in person, you should do that. Otherwise, if you never make it to Poland, the online version makes for a great experience as well.
*** This game can no longer be booked as a remote game but can still be booked as an in-person experience ***
