In the medieval land of Severin, Prince Karch and Princess Lauren have been raising a rare golden dragon. Unfortunately, as the dragon became of age, he has escaped and has reign down destruction onto different villages in the land. The Princess has contacted you to ask for your help in bringing the dragon back home alive.

Opening the red envelope, you can find a letter, a beautifully crafted map of the land of Severin with the kingdom newsletter on the back as well as 3 sealed items that you will be instructed to open as the game progresses.

This game already looks remarkable with just the stunning map and other materials from the envelope, but the interactive website needed to play the game is what really shines in this game.  To visit different areas on the map, you will be asked to put in coordinates from the map into the website, which will then whisk you to the different areas.  Each area had a detailed description and the story was written wonderfully to immerse you into the fantasy world. To further immerse you into the game, you can also find a link to a musical playlist that has been assembled on Spotify with different tunes from many medieval worlds. We always love a good playlist to have in the background as we play.

There was a linear stream of puzzles weaved through the game, which fit seamlessly into the story. This was one of those games where each puzzle made sense with the story and you never felt like they stuck out. There was a nice mix of puzzles in there with some word puzzles, logic puzzles and some which required you to read into the text. Some of the puzzles were also well thought out that resulted in some very satisfying solves. The puzzles were also at a good difficulty with ramping up to the end to more difficult puzzles and we never felt stuck to the point of frustration.

There were 3 of us playing this game, which took about 1.5 hours and we were impressed with how much narrative and in-depth story was packed into that time.  If you are a fan of the "Witcher" or "Game of Thrones", you would enjoy some of the nods and references in this game.  We found this game was also packed with some fun humor that made us chuckle a bit as we played.  The webpage used to navigate the game to provide us information and progress through the story was written so well that we did not mind all the reading throughout the game. This is definitely one of our favorite Scarlet Envelope games so far!
