You've received a letter from the Magical Mishaps Agency. Inspector Lepoof is in need of your assistance on Cinderella's stepmother and stepsister's murder case. Who could have done this? Is it our most obvious suspect Cinderella?

"The Fairy Tale Files: The Cinderella Murders" came in a small notebook size envelope. I was actually quite surprised by its size as I've seen many photos from other players posted online and expected it to be a regular letter size envelope but it turn out to be so cute. It's a great option for a "on the go" type of game.
Although it's small in size, you'll find lots of goodies inside: 4 suspect cards, 7 adventure cards, a crime scene picture, the Fairyland Chronicles newspaper, a letter from the Magical Mishaps Agency, and an evidence pack.

Before opening or reading anything from the game, you'll be directed to a website. Inspector Lepoof is the field agent and you will be communicating with him through the online portal. This is where you'll investigate and input answers. The website is also paired with optional ambience music. If you know me (love everything Disney), you would've guessed that I blasted that music throughout the game play.
Every good inspector knows that the first place to go when there's a murder is the crime scene. Once you follow the instruction and collected all the evidence, then you're be able to investigate various locations the victims have gone to and talk with different people that might have seen them. Only the correct trigger words will allow you to go further.

This game is more narrative based than puzzle heavy. There are essentially 7 mini puzzles that you'll need to solve in order to find more information on where and who you'll need to investigate next. I love the riddles and the puns that were embedded throughout the game. I just remember saying "ASS" repeatedly for like the a good 3 minutes. It was definitely a memorable moment for us.
Your "puzzles" are essentially the evidences and alibis that you'll gather as you read and examine the clues on the paper documents you've received in the mail combined with the conversations you've had with inspector Lepoof. Finally you'll need to use deduction in order to find the real culprit.

"The Fairy Tale Files: The Cinderella Murders" combined my two favorite things into one dream game. I love murder mystery and anything Disney! The beautiful illustrations were dabbed with just the right amount of eeriness. The portraits of the suspects, the fun stories on the Fairyland Chronicles, and detailed map and location images made this imaginary world come to live. I thoroughly enjoyed this hour of fun and secretly wished that it would last longer...Maybe there's a happily ever AFTER AFTER?
