There's a reviewer coming to your coffee shop today and this is your first day as a manager! Will you be able to solve all the issues before his arrival?

We met our GMs over Zoom. This is an audio escape game with minor visual clues being send over the chat box during the game. Our audio story presenter Molly was amazing. I was astonished by how quickly she was able to give us responses to our demands (we had a LOT of demands...). Scott was the other GM that assisted her with sending clue links and helping us with hints when we needed them. They worked seamlessly together to make this a great experience. I really enjoyed the fact that we were able to see them the entire time on screen as opposed to some of the other audio games we've played where the GM never shows their faces. The face to face interaction really bought out more genuine reactions during game play. I still remembered Molly's "Do you serious want me to try that?" face when we gave her our weird suggestions. 😜 As we solved the puzzles, new areas and items would become available for us to explored on until we got to the finish line.

The puzzles were top notch. After playing so many games, we've definitely seen a lot of the ciphers and puzzle design at this point yet this game still managed to surprise us with a lot of new concepts. We really enjoyed the smooth continuity of one puzzle leading to another and some how reuniting at the end to make that final meta puzzle. The puzzles will probably be a bit challenging for beginners but the good news is that you can ask for unlimited hints. Squonkland is also very generous with time as their goal is for you and your team to have fun and finish the game. We completed the game in 70 minutes with 1 hint.

Sometimes a great game doesn't need all the bells and whistles and this is definitely one of them. We had so much fun exploring this coffee shop through Molly's fabulous narrations that we felt like we were playing a video game. There were items you can "collect", "use", and "interact" with throughout the game. Taking notes is definitely necessary unless you have a photographic memory. We highly recommend that you giving this game a try and if you get hooked afterwards (like we did), there's five more up their sleeves!

(If you do decide to try this game, give us a shoutout or tag us on social media so we know you heard it from "ESCAPETHEROOMers"!)

Disclosure: We thank Squonkland for comping our tickets for this game. Although a complimentary experience was generously provided, it does not impact our opinion on the review whatsoever.
