Following where we left off from Chapter 8, you're now on board a moving train. To your surprise, a familiar face appeared in front of you, It's Millie Milton. As you just started to inquire about her whereabouts, an urgent voice came through the train radio. It seems like there's an issue with the engine and there's no way to remove the artifact until the train becomes stabilize. Can you make across the 5 train cars? Hopefully Millie will be able to guide you through this difficult task.

Read our previous reviews on more details about the packaging. In this chapter you'll receive an envelope with the backstory (printed on the inside), 5 logo cards, 1 handheld radio, 7 reversible train carriage tiles, 3 reversible radio cards, 4 reversible fuses, 1 lumber tag and 1 valve wheel.

Normally with "The Curious Correspondence Club" games you'll need to discover the starting point on your own or you can freely choose where to start from. This chapter felt more organized and you actually have a device that will guide you through the steps of the game play. It's definitely necessary as this is another difficult chapter in terms of the puzzles in our opinion. The "CCC" surprised me again on the creative side with the design of this device. It's used both as a guide and a hint giver.
If you successfully solve the first 5 puzzles, you'll be facing the final meta puzzle. Don't be shy on using hints from their website as it was great for us to understand what type of answer they are looking for and where to find the correlation. Once we knew that part, it was much easier to solve the remaining puzzles.

Most of the puzzles required multiple steps to get to the solution. Since they are not linear, you can complete them in any order. If you didn't want to use hints, I would suggest picking on an easier puzzle (you'll know which one it is) to find out what type of answer they're looking for. From there you can attempt a harder one and so forth. There's not much "search and find" type of puzzle in this game. We encountered some Math, deduction, decoding, and word puzzles. Make sure you have a lengthy table for the last puzzle. In my opinion, the meta puzzle actually felt like the easiest one out of all the puzzles but it was the most fun to solve since there was some assembling that was involved.

I feel like I'm just repeating myself at this point but we are big fans of "CCC". I've read mixed reviews on other player's opinion on what they liked about the games and what they didn't and I feel like a lot probably has to do with the difficulty level of the puzzles. It's not really meant for beginner puzzlers and you really need patience with some of the games. I do feel some big changes with the game flow of this game. Although the puzzles are still challenging, there's a much clearer sense of direction for the players to take. What hasn't changed throughout the chapters is the ingenuity of their game design. Every chapter is filled with surprises from simple paper props. You never know what they would transform into. Many times, they are able to create an object or item that you would use in real life. I'm very excited about Chapter 10 as we're about to face something we've long been waiting for...
