📖 THE STORY
A reconnaissance squad has failed to return. Selected as part of a team of elite ninjas to track their whereabouts, you reached the last known location and realized that it was a trap. You must now quickly investigate the motive and escape before it’s too late. Hayaku!
🎯 HIT THE BULLSEYE
Fans of a certain Japanese anime will certainly enjoy this game due to the tidbits and Easter eggs scattered around the room as part of the story and puzzle solving.
The effort to sustain the narrative was apparent throughout and the puzzles were related to the theme. Props and set design can all be related to the "ninja" theme, making it one of the more unique games in Singapore as I have not seen any similar room with such setup.
There was a good mix of puzzles, cleverly thought out and having its own satisfactory solution when the 'aha' moment came.
🧩 MISSED THE MARK
One of puzzles is a physical task. Hence, if you cannot do it, it means you cannot do it. There will be a way to bypass it, but it takes away some immersion and the climatic moment at that time.
A mid game puzzle was a bit tedious but logical. So it depends on your group's preferences. However, it is only a minor nitpick of my preference and does not detract away from the entire game experience.
🏹 TAKE A SHOT?
"Night Before The Storm" is a room with some cool moments with the set design immediately transporting you to the olden 'Japanese' culture. There are multiple rooms to explore and plenty of puzzles to keep you occupied and you don't even notice how fast the time just flies by. Overall, it is a challenging room with several 'aha' moments and the puzzle solving is fair once you can link the clues together. It is recommended for players who likes physical and mental challenges and for those who have always dreamt of becoming a ninja.
