📖 THE STORY

The famous archeologist Adrian Grant has invited you in his laboratory. He is currently stuck in south America, trying to decipher secrets linked to Jack Rackham’s secret treasure and he may have made a major discovery. You are in satellite connexion with Dr. Grant and your goal is to analyze 2 black boxes that have been sent from his site and stored in the middle of the room. These can be the coveted Rackham’s treasure! You will need to open them, solve their mysteries and maybe find the treasure!

🎯 HIT THE BULLSEYE

  • The For an escape box perspective: it is probably the best one I have tested so far!

  • Not only is the box cool, but it is stored in a dedicated room, pretty well decorated and that fits the theme. The room is not only there for decoration, you will find some clues to help solving the puzzles in the box.

  • There is a quite large variety of mechanisms used in the box, which is very welcome.

  • The possibility to play in “battle mode” adds to the excitement: as some sounds can be heard after validating a step, you can guess if you are ahead or behind!

🧩 MISSED THE MARK

  • Even thought the experience was very pleasant, I would expect a lower price as compared to classical escape rooms.

🏹 TAKE A SHOT?

As this experience is an escape box and not a full escape room, I had pretty low expectations at the beginning (I have played 20ish escape boxes and even if some of them were decent, it was never as enjoyable as a real escape room: a lot of padlocks, puzzles are either too easy or have a weird logic for artificial difficulty, no real backstory…). But Trip Trap managed to make it very entertaining, especially in “battle mode”. The box in itself has a lot of mechanisms to play with and the room in which we play adds to the immersion. As the price is in the same range as for an escape room, I would favor the latter if you have to choose. But if you have time and want to give it a try, it’s worth the experience. I would recommend maximum 3 players per box, 2 players is perfect if you are experienced.
