  • Geography: On the Western coast of Tokyo Bay, about 20 miles SW of Tokyo.

  • Population: Approx. 3.7 Million

  • Currency: Japanese Yen (Yen); Currency Converter

  • Cruise Port: Google Map Location

  • Tender Port: No

  • Best Time to Visit: Fall (late September to November) and Spring (March-May)

This cruise port is where we will embark on the Celebrity Millennium ship for a 12-Day voyage (Departs on August 19, 2024 at 7PM) through different islands of Japan, including a visit to Jeju Island, Korea. We are thrilled about this trip as it has been a long-awaited item on our agenda. Arriving a day in advance, we took the opportunity to explore the area and ensure we are punctual for the cruise departure. The majority of our travel within the city was by bus rather than train, and we found the Suica card convenient for all our transportation needs.

During our stay in Yokohama, we lodged at the Hyatt Regency where they offer various complimentary amenity items such as nail polish remover, iron, etc. The service was also exceptional. This hotel is an excellent choice if you plan to embark on a cruise the following day, as it is just a 10-minute walk to the terminal. Please be aware that there is an uphill stretch near the terminal where you may need to push your luggage.

Yokohama Chinatown is conveniently located just a 7-minute walk away, offering a wide variety of food options. The street is lined with delicious food stalls, making it difficult to decide what to try. To make my choice easier, I opted for the stalls with the longest lines. After purchasing a selection of items, I brought them back to the hotel to enjoy, as seating options are limited for street food unless dining in a restaurant.

We traveled by bus to Hammerhead and then proceeded to explore Red Brick Warehouse, Marine & Walk, Shino Pier Cruise Terminal, World Porters, and the Ramen Noodle Museum on foot.

The ramen food court at the pier cruise terminal was excellent, offering a variety of desserts to enjoy as well. On the second floor, you can visit the hammerhead for a photo opportunity.

We boarded a red "tourism" bus to the Pokemon Center. It's important to ensure you are on the correct route, as otherwise, you might reach the final destination by going the opposite way. This happened to us, but it turned out fine as we ended up exploring a large mall nearby. The bus fare remains constant regardless of the distance traveled. The Pokemon Center tends to be overcrowded on weekends. Upon reaching the 0101 building, you'll find the center on the 8th floor. This location is larger and offers a wider selection compared to the one in Tokyo.

The following day, we savored a delightful breakfast at "A Happy Pancake". It's truly delicious. Be sure to arrive early to skip the queues. The pancakes are incredibly fluffy (they jiggle just like how I saw them on Youtube!), with a wide variety of flavors available. Don't forget to explore the seasonal limited-edition options. The flavored coffees are also excellent.

Then we went to a new escape room company called "Dark escapE". The owner generously hosted us to play all three of their games. We really enjoyed the experience. If you have time, definitely check them out!

Upon returning to the ship, make sure to go up to the upper deck and admire the nighttime view of Yokohama harbor as you depart.
