Will you discover any evidence, and more importantly, will you survive to tell others about it? 🎯 HIT THE BULLSEYE The game has a really nice flow to it, there are multiple rooms to explore and a lot of props and thematic furniture inclusions. During the game we explore a lot of the house, including a surprise location! I feel the majority of escape rooms fail to properly embed a story that has the possibility to evolve during the game, however, in this room there is definitely an unexpected twist which impressed us and created a thrilling finale. This is a linear room with a set of puzzles that begin to crank up in complexity as we progress. The variety of tasks was also impressive and had us having to think outside of the box on a couple of occasions. 🧩 MISSED THE MARK We ultimately felt that the room lacked the ‘paranormal’ in paranormal activity. There should have been more special effects to push the illusion of ghosts and spirits haunting the property and possibly putting our lives in danger. For those not wanting to spend an hour on edge it might be a relief, but for those expecting a spooky experience from start to end, you might leave feeling a little underwhelmed. 🏹 TAKE A SHOT? This was our favourite room at Escape Quest. It delivers on providing creative puzzles and an engaging story. As mentioned above, the room is not as scary as we would have liked, but this might be preferable for other teams. For experienced players, this room is ideal for a two-person game due to its relatively low difficulty level. You can tell he is passionate about what he does and looking after us. Escape Quest has crafted an original story that had us excited even before we entered the room. Although the plot doesn't have any twists or further developments, the fun factor remains high throughout. The game is divided into two distinct parts: the director's office, which is rather drab, and the Fair, which bursts with a vibrant carnival theme, complete with bright colors and game stalls. Many of the puzzles are themed around carnival games, alongside traditional escape room challenges like decoding, searching, and logic puzzles. 🧩 MISSED THE MARK Despite the game's strong thematic elements, it unfortunately falls short in fully masking the office-like environment. The immersion could have been significantly enhanced with higher quality props and set design. 🏹 TAKE A SHOT? " The Fair " is probably Escape Quest's most enjoyable room, suitable for groups of all experience levels. While it doesn't feature many cooperative challenges, which might leave larger teams with less to do, we found it perfect for just the two of us. Can you complete the tasks and figure out who the ultimate winner was? 🎯 HIT THE BULLSEYE The variety of puzzles in this game is impressive and diverse. Each stage offers a unique set of challenges: the first stage features straight logic puzzles, the second focuses on observation-based tasks, and the third and final stage involves dexterity challenges. What makes the puzzles even more impressive is their nonlinear nature. Teams can choose to split up and tackle different puzzles simultaneously or stick together and work through them one by one. This flexibility adds an extra layer of strategy and teamwork to the experience. 🧩 MISSED THE MARK We were not fans of the decoration for this game, which consisted of only a few puzzle elements mounted to the walls and lots of paint. The interior was unfortunately too sparsely furnished and the overall vibe felt pretty cheap. For a magical-themed room it really lacked any kind of magical elements or vibe. We would have expected more tech-based puzzles or special effects to really provide some immersion. 🏹 TAKE A SHOT? This is an appropriate room for people who place a higher emphasis on interesting puzzles than they do set design or story. The nonlinear format also makes the room good for teams of all sizes. Which side of the brain will be faster? Teams can also play them in an uncompetitive mode, as we did. 🎯 HIT THE BULLSEYE Although the rooms do not have any particular story driving them forward, they are at least theoretically designed and decorated. We especially liked the way the Creative room was put together; my wife would have loved the bright wallpaper in our house! The Creative room is colorful and whimsical, while the Logic room is quite plain and industrial by contrast. To keep the competition intense, each room features a giant brain that displays not only your progress but also that of your opponents. This thoughtful touch maintains high tension throughout, especially if teams are completing tasks at a similar pace. Each room offers an impressive set of puzzles that test you in different ways. The Logic room focuses on mathematical and logic-based tasks that challenge your deduction and observation skills. Meanwhile, the Creative room has you competing in dexterity and smell tasks, among other artistic challenges. The race element adds a unique twist compared to most escape rooms. What truly sets this experience apart is that the two rooms are entirely different, unlike the usual identical Duel rooms. This twist actually inspires you to want to play both rooms back-to-back to see which team can complete them the fastest. 🧩 MISSED THE MARK There wasn’t anything particularly wrong with any of the rooms, they are both solid escape experiences. 🏹 TAKE A SHOT? While you could argue that these are more puzzle rooms than traditional escape rooms, they still offer exciting experiences filled with creative puzzles that drive competition. Even though we didn't play in a competitive mode, we thoroughly enjoyed the gameplay and can recommend these rooms to teams of all experience levels. One day, you received your great-great-grandfather’s diary, which contained the location of the pharaoh’s tomb and some clues. Can you solve the mystery in the tomb and come back safely? 🎯 HIT THE BULLSEYE The room's decor was beautiful and visually appealing. Although the room was not large, it made me feel like I was exploring an Egyptian tomb. I enjoyed all the puzzles. They looked like classic Egyptian theme puzzles but had a little twist. They were all fun to solve. My teammate and I agreed that we loved one of the gimmicks. The puzzles and gimmicks made us feel like we were in a classic adventure movie. Before we entered the room, we listened to the game's introductory story, which set the stage for our upcoming adventure. That was a great way to begin the game with excitement. There was a signal every time we solved the puzzles correctly. This signal enhanced our gameplay experience to clarify what to do while playing. The system allows both beginners and experienced players to enjoy the game comfortably. 🧩 MISSED THE MARK Although it is a minor thing, one of the puzzles required us to set the five knobs at specific positions and hold them in place. Since we were a team of two, it was a little stressful to keep the knobs in position while attempting to solve the puzzle. 🏹 TAKE A SHOT? " The Mummy 2 " is an exciting escape room that allows you to explore an Egyptian tomb. The interior is visually appealing, and the puzzles are engaging without overly complicated. To achieve this daring task, you have intentionally allowed yourselves to be caught and imprisoned. Now, you must escape and break into their high security vault in order to retrieve the documents. Video above is property of GAME OVER Escape Rooms 🎯 HIT THE BULLSEYE Yes! A Game Over room which has plentiful props and decorations which exist outside of those connected to puzzles. The room design was not overly fancy, but it was functional and thematic, the impressive assortment of props helped raise the immersion to a higher level than in any of the other games at this location. In addition to the decor, the game also has a couple of cool special effects inside the safe which created a fun and daring atmosphere, making us feel like we were in a Mission Impossible movie. The game comes with an interesting assortment of puzzles which are all relatable to the military or spy theme. We particularly liked the dexterity moments, which coincidentally also encompassed a team based challenge. In addition to a high quality set design and impressive puzzles, Top Secret also pays attention to the storyline. We had to progress through each stage, escaping prison, collecting our weapons, cracking into the vault, and finally stealing the blueprints. 🧩 MISSED THE MARK There wasn’t too much by way of misses in this experience. I would have liked better room lighting, as I feel making rooms overly dark for atmospheric reasoning is not always a good idea. 🏹 TAKE A SHOT? If you're looking to channel your inner spy for a day, this experience is perfect for you! This is the most challenging room at the GAME OVER location, but it's also the most rewarding. We appreciated the "trickiness" of the early puzzles, as solving them was quite satisfying. Even though a particular device had to be used several times in the game, it fit well with the room's theme. As spies, it felt essential to be able to crack codes and input them for "rewards". The puzzles and clues in this game were definitely linked to wartime. We were pleased to see such a variety of decoding strategies in a single game. Unfortunately, one of the devices was broken by the group before us, so we couldn't experience its functionality. The owner demonstrated it to us afterwards, and it certainly felt like something from many spy movies. 🧩 MISSED THE MARK We were unable to fully experience the ending due to a malfunctioning prop. However, if it had worked properly, the smoke and laser would likely have been an impressive special effect for the finale. The last room seemed somewhat empty compared to earlier parts of the game. It would be beneficial to add more puzzles to engage more players, as currently, only one puzzle can be solved by one person at a time. 🏹 TAKE A SHOT? If you are into decoding secret codes, have a passion for history, and thrive on the excitement of spy missions, then this is undoubtedly the game for you. The experience immerses players in a thrilling environment where the art of espionage and the intricacies of cryptography come to life. We found ourselves fully engaged as we tackled various challenges that required us to think creatively and strategically. The thrill of gaining access to the headquarters and successfully infiltrating their computer system was exhilarating. However, we felt that if the game could conclude with a more robust and complex puzzle, it would elevate the entire mission to a level of perfection. However, the creators encourage players to attempt all challenges before utilizing these accommodations. Most of the time, the game takes place at night, in near-total darkness. The lighting is carefully designed to enhance the experience without hindering gameplay. Some areas are deliberately dark, adding to the tension and immersive nature of the adventure. Players can choose between a 2-hour and a 4-hour version of the experience. The shorter version delivers a complete and cohesive narrative, but the full 4-hour game is where this experience truly shines. If players dress appropriately for the environment—wearing weather-appropriate clothing and gear suited for running outside in a train yard—the challenges become much more manageable. The game’s design encourages stepping outside your comfort zone, but it never forces players into anything beyond their limits. For those concerned about the physical demands, the game does offer in-story accommodations when necessary. However, players should expect to push themselves and embrace the adventure. The movement isn’t just an added challenge—it’s integral to the immersion, making every moment feel more real and engaging. 🏹 TAKE A SHOT? " Demise of the Gricers " is a four-hour-long experience that felt like it passed in just 30 minutes. Time has never flown by so quickly for me and my group. The game's ability to unfold organically, driven by our choices and actions, made every moment feel engaging and immersive. We never quite knew where the story would lead, but that uncertainty only heightened the excitement. What truly stood out was how well the game catered to different playstyles. Players who enjoyed intellectual challenges had plenty of intricate puzzles to solve, while those who preferred a more physical approach could take on action-oriented mechanics. This balance ensured that every type of player felt included and had a meaningful role in the experience. The team at Entered also did an exceptional job of accommodating players when things became too intense. They found ways to adapt the experience to each individual's capabilities while still encouraging them to push beyond their comfort zones in a safe and controlled manner. One of our teammates, who initially had doubts about their ability to complete the game, was thrilled to find themselves fully engaged, breaking the experience into digestible segments, and ultimately succeeding in ways they hadn’t expected. For anyone who has ever wanted to step into the world of an action-packed video game, this is your chance. I highly recommend playing at night for the most immersive atmosphere—it adds a layer of tension and excitement that simply can't be replicated. There is truly nothing else like this that I have played before. As an American visiting mainland Europe, I can only hope that something of this caliber makes its way stateside. But honestly, I might just have to book another plane ticket just to play this again. The online components feel realistic, heightening the tension and pulling you deeper into the world. Be ready for a fair bit of reading - it’s a storytelling game, after all - but it never feels overwhelming. It’s the first of the Masters of Crime series that we’ve tried, and the concept feels fresh! A heist may be a common theme, but the freedom to plan and shape it yourself is unusual, intriguing, and lots of fun. The story is engaging, and the game is well-constructed, providing plenty of value (and hours of play) for its price point. The 16+ age rating felt a bit high to us. While you do play criminals and there are some more adult concepts, we’d feel comfortable with players 12+, as the feeling is more lighthearted rather than gory or gritty. While we’ve pulled off plenty of heists in in-person escape rooms, we’ve found that tabletop games more often have you as the detective solving the crime. Shadows not only puts you on the dark side of the law, it has you overseeing every aspect of the heist from the ground up. It’s a novel and immersive approach that made us feel fully invested in the gameplay. Whether you’re a puzzle enthusiast or a storytelling fan, this is a game worth your time—especially if you’ve ever dreamed of being the mastermind behind the perfect crime. There were definitely some Dave recognized that I didn’t know, with enough variety to appeal to multiple generations. What stands out is just how much there is to take in. Some of the visual elements become vital to solving puzzles later on, while others simply enrich the world-building, leaving you wondering what role they might play. You’re working through 24 puzzles spread across 25 compartments, accompanied by a storybook, a hint book, and tools like a decoder, puzzle cards, and a few surprise objects. You start by reading the day’s story, then opening the day’s compartment. The goal is simple: each day’s puzzle gives you a three-digit code that you enter into the decoder to lead you to a new compartment. If the symbols on the decoder match that compartment, you’ve got it! We found that the game play to all run quite smoothly. The game pieces all stayed nicely in their compartments. (At least until we used them…we did find that it was best to paperclip some smaller “special objects” together or onto cards to keep them in their respective compartments after we’d finished that day; otherwise, some of those began to wander.) The game keeps you on your toes, blending observation, logic, and close inspection into a varied and satisfying mix. A magnifying glass and flashlight are handy to have on hand, especially for detail-heavy sections. The visual components range in size from tiny to…much larger! And there’s a certain magic in the way realizations hit: when something that’s been staring at you for days suddenly clicks, it’s a fabulous a-ha! We tackled it as a duo and found it the perfect size for two players, though a small family could easily enjoy it too; they’d just need to be prepared to pass the box around more to see into the small compartments. The puzzles are approachable for older kids, making it a fun family activity. While the story didn’t grip us as tightly as some other Exit advents, we adored the Hollywood theme and the many nods to iconic films. The sheer creativity and variety packed into this box are incredible. These Exit advent calendars have become an annual tradition for us, and we can’t wait to see what they dream up next year! Video above is property of ESCAPETHEROOMers 🎯 HIT THE BULLSEYE This room featured some challenging multi-step puzzles that we thoroughly enjoyed solving by piecing together the clues. Some clever props were employed to test your observation and memory, prompting you to recall where you had seen them before and where you might use them. Brandon always prefers physical puzzles over logical ones, and this game certainly included plenty of those. Jump scares were frequent, but the timing was particularly effective on a few occasions. It was tough to catch us since we were just two players, but with more participants, someone would likely be "caught" by the clown. The decor truly captured the essence of a circus. We even got to engage in various "acts" or "games" typical of a circus experience. Sound effects significantly boosted the scare factor throughout the game. Although some puzzles would have been easier with more than two players, the game also provided props that allowed us to complete puzzles typically requiring a larger group. 🧩 MISSED THE MARK The brightness in the second room diminished the game's frightening aspect. We hope the lighting could remains eerie throughout the set design. Some jump scare props were placed too obviously in certain spots. It would be great if those could be concealed more. 🏹 TAKE A SHOT? Although the game is not as scary as " Haunted Mansion ", you'll still get a good amount of jump scares out of it, which, while not as intense as those found in more traditional horror settings, are executed with precision to elicit genuine reactions from unsuspecting participants. There are no live actors in the game. However, this absence is more than compensated for by the eerie ambiance and the unsettling design of the environment. You'll definitely feel those creepy clown eyes lurking in the dark, watching your every move. If you enjoy circus and carnival games, this would be really fun for you and your team. The game incorporates elements reminiscent of classic fairground attractions, but with a sinister twist that adds a layer of thrill. Will you be able to come out alive before the evil clown gets back? Video above is property of ESCAPETHEROOMers 🎯 HIT THE BULLSEYE Unlike some other Egyptian-themed rooms we've experienced, this one didn't overwhelm us with excessive storytelling. We received a diary that succinctly provided clues on which puzzles to address and where to direct our attention. We appreciated the various "chambers" we explored, considering the room's space constraints. The final room was particularly impressive, featuring a prop reminiscent of one found in a Disney attraction. The room offered a good mix of straightforward puzzles requiring observation and others that demanded more logical thinking. The props and set design were all pertinent to the game's theme. Everything, even the smallest clue piece, felt like it belonged. A bell rang every time something opened, ensuring we didn't miss any developments, even if we were in another room. We enjoyed the sound effects and voices that provided context about the characters in the tomb and offered a satisfying conclusion to the game. 🧩 MISSED THE MARK Initially, there was a puzzle that required players to connect a map with some unconventional thinking for its use. We recommend including a hint in the diary to guide the thought process and avoid guessing how it works. Later, there was a puzzle with floor markings that could be interpreted in various ways. It confused us as we were uncertain about what to look for. The final puzzle might benefit experienced players who have encountered it before, but it's unclear how new players will know what to seek. We suggest adding a voice hint or clue somewhere. 🏹 TAKE A SHOT? Egyptian rooms always exude an enchanting aura of mystery! With an incredible set design, we were instantly drawn into the storyline and transformed into daring explorers. Since a good amount of puzzles have been removed from the original design of the room, this adventure is now fitting for players of all skill levels. Remarkably designed in 2017, it remains in excellent condition, boasting technology that's truly ahead of its time.
