Video above is property of GAME OVER Escape Rooms 🎯 HIT THE BULLSEYE Despite not using any actual stone in the creation of this ruin, the materials used do achieve the desired effect nicely. Like with most Game Over games there is little in the way of props; all included decorative items will have some function in the game’s puzzles at some point. Those items in Medieval Castle were relatively authentic in appearance and function, which did help provide some level of immersion. Like in all Game Over rooms there is an automated Hint system which tracks your progression through the linear game. You can ask it for two predetermined clues before it goes to the Game Master for ‘emergency’ help! The puzzles in Medieval Castle are some of the most interactive I have seen from Game Over, as there is less emphasis on finding objects and placing them in key spots and more emphasis on solving puzzles and engaging in dynamic tasks. 🧩 MISSED THE MARK Although the room is thematically designed, there isn’t as much attention to fulfilling the story as we would have liked. The room doesn’t bring the plot into play through the puzzles or decoration, so we left feeling a little confused as to what we achieved. That said, it was still a rewarding experience. 🏹 TAKE A SHOT? Video above is property of ESCAPETHEROOMers 🎯 HIT THE BULLSEYE Although it's an easy item to make, we still love the innovative ideas the creators bring to an entrance of an escape room. This one really made us feel like we're entering a fairytale. One thing you'll notice with The Escape Ventures games is the consistency on their set designs. This one is my personal favorite as the transformation happens right in front of your eyes. You won't even realize that you're part of it until it's complete! The color scheme used for the set design really bought out the holiday spirit and the furniture decor inside the house had a really warm feeling of being at a grandma's house. The attention to detail from outside the lawn area to inside the house (that looks like two floor high) was amazing. Be careful with the plates! They are real! There's a little surprise during the game that we really enjoyed. A lot of the escape room utilized this "tool" but this one actually made it REAL. 🧩 MISSED THE MARK There was a good amount of "finding" and count puzzles that we had encountered in this room (since this is a family friendly room, I can see kids really enjoying this puzzle). With "finding" puzzles, there's no way to confirm on if we missed one or not so it's tougher in a room with lots of decors. 🏹 TAKE A SHOT? This room made me happy from start to finish. The ending especially bought out the holiday spirit. But you can easily play this during anytime of the year because the victory will get you ready for any type of celebration. Families with kids would have a blast in this room since there's plenty for them to discover and a lot of room for them to explore. If you're looking for a bit more challenge, check out their other rooms " Bros For Life: Fraternity Heist " and " Outage: No Vacancy ". The count yard, hallway, trophy display, lockers really portrayed the campus life style. Some puzzles were well thought out in terms of what you would do as a college student. It was a lot of fun to solve and a good workout as well! We really enjoyed a visualization puzzle towards the end. The mechanism that revealed the answer was pretty cool too. Totally rockin' dude"! We love the secret "ins" and "outs" that were incorporated in this room. It really gave a nice balance of a "wow" at the beginning and finishing off with a "bang" at the end. 🧩 MISSED THE MARK One of the props felt under used. They could easily program a puzzle with it. 🏹 TAKE A SHOT? This game is impressive from set design to puzzles to storyline. When I came out of the game, I felt like I was fraternized . I couldn't stop saying "Dude!" I love how unique the theme is yet it's so close to our hearts. College has some of my favorite memories and this game really made me feel young again (ok maybe not the part where I had to pick up XXX numerous times). The creators really thought of everything (even the ceiling was covered with tinted blue light that it made it feel like evening time) and you'll see what we mean when you go and play this game. It's a must do when visiting Orland, Florida. If you have time, definitely play their two other rooms " Outage: No Vacancy " and " The Satirical Miracle: A Jolly Tale of Granny's Blackmail " as well. Video above is property of ESCAPETHEROOMers 🎯 HIT THE BULLSEYE The decor of the start of the game definitely hit the spot on a haunted hotel feel. The way we had to figure out the way into the room was a great add on to the experience along with great intro performance from the game master. Since this room is played mostly in complete darkness, we had to throw out a lot of our traditional way of solving puzzles and rely a lot on our senses. Touch was incorporated in various puzzles that was sens ational. The size of the room is not large but the creators were able to utilize every inch of the space. Especially in the dark room, you can actually be fooled by the spatial dimension and think the room is bigger than it is. 🧩 MISSED THE MARK One of the door designs was slightly awkward as it could potentially be a hazard to the players when playing in the dark. It would be nice to incorporate a bit more variation in to the use of other senses like smell perhaps? Most of the puzzles were revolved on touch. 🏹 TAKE A SHOT? This is our first full 60 minute escape room that we mostly played in the dark. We've done a 10 minute one at Red Vein Escape but this is a much larger scale. Not only do we have to solve puzzles but also have to face our fears. You have no idea what you're touching or what is around you. After playing this game, I realized how much we overlook our sight as a sense. But during the game, I also realized that our senses can adapt quickly so losing one sense actually made the other one a lot more sensitive. Spatial and object recognition was used a lot in this room and your brain really starts to form this imprint of everything you've touched. At the beginning, we had no idea where everything was but slowly a floor plan formed in our minds. This room is definitely going to memorable for us. I would recommend 2-3 people for the ultimate experience. I wish the creators had more space to build a much larger escape room for us to explore as this could easily become an immersive experience rather than just an escape room. If you've never tried playing puzzles in a complete darkness room, give this a go! This is definitely something to chat with your friends about. If you are just looking for a regular escape room experience, then by all means try their " Bros For Life: Fraternity Heist " and " The Satirical Miracle: A Jolly Tale of Granny's Blackmail " room. Both were excellent. We enjoyed solving an unconventional puzzle to gain entry instead of just finding a key. The set design resembled an old castle filled with hidden secrets, which we uncovered along the way. Throughout the game, you'll use numerous props that make you feel like the real "Van Helsing". There were two props or clue items we hadn't encountered in other escape rooms before. It was satisfying to see how they worked with the solution reveal. The special effect at the end when Dracula was defeated was a fantastic way to conclude the game. 🧩 MISSED THE MARK There was a clue that was depicted in a way that was different than the traditional. I understand why some players might consider this puzzle to be the toughest puzzle in this game. The last task seemed somewhat repetitive. Perhaps shortening it and introducing another puzzle could resolve this problem. 🏹 TAKE A SHOT? As you navigate the dimly lit corridors and grand halls of the castle, each room will present its own unique challenges and hidden items that are essential for piecing together the larger mystery at hand. You'll also get a lot of moments where you must work as a team in order to solve certain puzzles together, emphasizing the importance of collaboration and strategic thinking. Communication is the key to escape, as you will find that many of the challenges are designed to require diverse perspectives and skills. If you want to feel like Van Helsing, trying to kill the most powerful Dracula before he awakes, then this challenge is for you. As we advanced through the game, we activated mechanisms that made us feel like we were energizing the ship to uncover its hidden mysteries. Some puzzles necessitated physical tools, while others were solved using control panels reminiscent of spaceship interfaces. We appreciated the diverse array of props seamlessly integrated by the designer. Many puzzles required collaborative problem-solving, testing our teamwork and communication skills, especially challenging since we couldn't write anything down, relying solely on memory. We were particularly impressed by the concealed compartments and surprising revelations scattered throughout the game. The storytelling approach in this game stood out for its uniqueness. Instead of traditional methods like reading text or watching videos, the narrative unfolded through the exploration of messages left by the ship's former crew, adding a layer of intrigue to the experience. 🧩   MISSED THE MARK Providing a flashlight to every player would enhance the gaming experience. With the game becoming more non-linear as it progresses, having multiple flashlights would enable players to explore different parts simultaneously and strategize better. At times, we solved puzzles in the wrong order, leading us to seek clarification from the game master about our progress. This situation could be prevented by restricting access to certain puzzles until the appropriate time. 🏹 TAKE A SHOT? The set design of this experience truly transported us into a cinematic realm, evoking a sense of being part of a thrilling movie adventure. The captivating dim blue lighting and the introduction of special effects heightened the immersive atmosphere, effectively disconnecting us from the confines of reality. Each puzzle we encountered during the game added to the tension, making us feel as though we were truly fighting for survival in a high-stakes scenario. The combination of physical tasks and intricate technical challenges, reminiscent of complex mechanical operations requiring repair, provided a well-rounded and engaging gameplay experience. As we progressed through the challenges and eventually succeeded in our escape, the desire to further explore the mysteries of another galaxy aboard a spaceship like this only grew stronger. It seems like there are secrets hidden within those walls... Through the use of props and puzzles, the unsettling tales unfolding in this motel were gradually revealed. This approach cleverly conveyed information without relying on text for the players to read. There was a clever puzzle design that offered two ways to the solutions: an easier one and a more challenging one. During gameplay, there is a surprising "wow" moment that catches you off guard. The utilization of light effects was impressive, although some background music would have enhanced the experience... 🧩   MISSED THE MARK There was a puzzle that could be made shorter. It is the kind of game that is best enjoyed at home when you have more free time. The conclusion could have provided further explanation of the discoveries to wrap up the storyline. 🏹 TAKE A SHOT? For those who appreciate the classic film "Psycho," the set design of this particular location undoubtedly evokes memories of the infamous Bates Motel. At first glance, everything may appear ordinary and unassuming, but upon closer inspection and delving into the mysteries hidden within the walls, a sinister underbelly is revealed. Much like unraveling a tangled web of clues left behind by the enigmatic former guests of the establishment, the dark secrets of the Rest East Motel gradually come to light. She desired to remain both youthful and beautiful for as long as possible. One day, in a fit of anger, she struck a maid for brushing her hair too hard. The maid’s spilled blood dripped onto Erzsebet’s hand and as it trickled down her arm, she noticed her skin appearing fresher. From that day on Erzsebet appeared to go through many new maids, the commoners were rumoured to believe she was draining their blood and she was infamously labelled a vampire and the world’s greatest ever serial killer. Centuries later you attend her castle to discover if the stories about her and her lust for virgin blood are true or not. Video above is property of Escaping Belgium 🎯 HIT THE BULLSEYE Our first impression of the game was already a good one. Before entering we watch a short video detailing the story, which is always much better than having to read it yourself or listen to someone narrate it. Whilst the video might not be up to the same production value as many others in the region, the B-movie style left a positive impression as we couldn’t help but laugh at how corny it was (in a good way!). The rooms inside Erzsebet’s chambers are expansive, allowing for teams of up to 6 to fit comfortable inside. The décor is in keeping with the 17th century setting, with a grand four-poster bed adorning her bedroom. In the rooms which follow, we continue to find thematic props and design choices to push the setting of the timeline. Despite many of the puzzles being both simplistic in their design and construction we were pleasantly surprised at their quality and creativity; proving that good puzzles aren’t just expensive or high tech. We actually remarked whilst playing on one particular challenge, that it was such a simple twist on a conventional escape room action, but yet rewarding to complete; in over 600 rooms I hadn’t seen this task before, which was surprising due to its simplicity. Another aspect of the puzzles we enjoyed was the variety; comprising of team challenges, exploration back and forth, and multi-layered riddles. The game wasn’t always linear, so awe were frequently able to attempt different things at the same time. 🧩 MISSED THE MARK For the majority the immersion was maintained throughout by the materials used, but on occasion we were brought back to reality when we came across modern devices or elements, such as electronic keypads. We felt the experience would have been more complete if they committed 100% to the story and immersive experience. Although there was a great introduction to the story in the beginning of the game, the ending was somewhat flat with no real climax or feeling of conclusion when we exited. 🏹 TAKE A SHOT? " Erzsebet " is a room which is going to appeal to those who love puzzle rooms and don’t worry to much about immersion. There are some interesting and challenging things inside to solve that will always keep your mind active. The room size and style of puzzles also makes it obtainable for those wishing to bring larger teams and still ensure everyone can take an active role. It was exciting to watch the cartoon video about the game. It set a nice tone before we entered the room. This room was more spacious than the other rooms we played in. The game's structure was straightforward, and I appreciated the decor's attention to detail in each room. In this game, we solved different types of puzzles, searching for items or physical challenges. Most puzzles were straightforward, but some had unique twists. They were enjoyable to solve. The game master was friendly and helpful. He kindly assisted us with the puzzles that we had difficulty solving. 🧩 MISSED THE MARK The game had fun puzzles with a nice twist and was easy to play. Yet, I felt it was a little one-note from the beginning to the end. I wish it had a little bit more of a surprise factor. 🏹 TAKE A SHOT? “ The Chaos Engine ” is an exciting escape room that immerses players in the steampunk era. There were enchanting moments where we had to pause and savor the surprise, momentarily forgetting about the time limit to complete the experience. The puzzles in this room were cleverly crafted, using props in unexpected ways. The puzzle progression was excellent. Most were task-based, but you always had a clear idea of what to do next. The designer ingeniously incorporated the room's decor for hidden clues that, once found, provided "aha" moments. 🧩 MISSED THE MARK Certain locks seemed out of place in this set design. One of the mechanisms was quite challenging to operate. Providing clearer instructions would be helpful instead of needing a clue. Perhaps having more players might make it easier. One puzzle had light indicators that confused us. Even with an incorrect placement of a prop, the light would turn green. The game could have benefited from a more conclusive and narrative-driven ending, especially since the room already had a mechanism for a reveal. 🏹 TAKE A SHOT? Brandon's favorite Disney couple is undoubtedly Aladdin and Jasmine, a pairing that embodies adventure, romance, and the enchanting allure of the magical world they inhabit. You could truly sense the thrill radiating from him as we embarked on our journey through this captivating universe. The deeper we ventured into this magical kingdom, the more we experienced moments that truly resonated with the essence of the Disney characters we cherished. The props in the game were intricately connected to the show. Several "hidden spots" surprised us with unexpected elements in the game. One of the puzzle clues cleverly used a real-life incident to provide the solution. The sound of the police car and flashing lights at the end created an intense sense of urgency. 🧩 MISSED THE MARK As experienced players, you might find yourself wasting a clue at the start for a puzzle that lacked clear instructions on what to do. If you excel at "search and find," you might not require one. Some props in the set design seemed like red herrings, as we didn't end up using all the information. This game contained many "giveaway" answers that we believe could be improved with a different type of cluing system. However, you might need all available times, as there are two Math puzzles that could consume a majority of your time. The final clue for the last puzzle could have better incorporated the props, making the final escape a bit more thrilling. 🏹 TAKE A SHOT? If you've seen the show "Money Heist," known in its original Spanish title as "La Casa de Papel," you would undoubtedly appreciate the intricate and immersive nature of the game that draws inspiration from this captivating series. The game is filled with a plethora of Easter Eggs, carefully embedded references and nods to the show's iconic moments, characters, and themes. These hidden gems serve not only as delightful surprises for fans but also enhance the overall gaming experience, making it much more engaging and relatable for those familiar with the narrative. While these Easter Eggs may not directly assist you in solving the various puzzles presented throughout the game, they certainly provide a significant advantage in shaping your thought process. There were a few moments that provided the thrill of a "magical" reveal when an object or door opened. Each time something opened, a bell sound alerted us, ensuring we didn't miss any action. The game included a good number of translation puzzles, all in different formats, which fit well with the room's theme. The game's flow was great. We never had to pause to figure out our next move. 🧩 MISSED THE MARK Some colors and props require updates as a few were hard to read. One puzzle at the start was confusing because of the "clues" written on them, which actually added to the confusion due to the labeling. Hopefully, fixing the sensors so all sides can be detected will resolve this. A trigger had a delay after we completed a sequence, causing us to repeat it several times. Eventually, we realized we had the correct solution but just needed to wait for a bit. One of the puzzles in the final room seemed out of place with the theme due to the prop used for the clue. We are uncertain if we fully understood the storyline, particularly how the last action we took connected with it. Why was it necessary to do that to indicate we had completed our wizard training? Perhaps the storyline could be clearer. 🏹 TAKE A SHOT? This game is an ideal starting point for young wizards eager to explore the enchanting world of escape rooms. It introduces players to the genre with a magical setting that sharpens their problem-solving skills through engaging puzzles requiring keen observation and attention to detail. As players advance, they face increasingly complex challenges, maintaining an approachable difficulty that excites rather than overwhelms. The game also features spell-casting and tactile challenges, enhancing the immersive experience and adding authenticity to the magical theme. Onboard "Flight 301" it has been quite enjoyable, until something happens! Will you and your friends ultimately survive this life or death experience? Video above is property of ESCAPETHEROOMers 🎯 HIT THE BULLSEYE Just like being checked in at the airport, our GM gave us boarding tickets and led us to an actual airplane door to board the flight. It was an authentic experience right from the start. This is not the first airplane themed escape room that we've played, but it's definitely the best one in terms of set design. You'll encounter real airplane seats, take off and landing lights, vibrations, announcements, and other real equipment. Because the owners of QuestAir Escape Rooms used to be pilots, they knew exactly what to do to bring authenticity to the look and feel of this game. The puzzles were fun and some actually involved us thinking outside of the box. It was great for the creator to insert the storyline into the puzzle creation to make everything seem reasonable. Our favorite part of the game was obviously the plot twist that we can't really discuss here. All I can say is that you'll love it as that was when the adrenaline really started to kick in. The lighting, sound and the "personal touch" really presented us with an exciting and satisfying ending. 🧩 MISSED THE MARK One of the puzzles in the room could be played out of order as it could be easily brute forced. It would be great if there's someway to prevent that as it would take us out of the immersion if the GM has to inform us to solve that puzzle later as focus on something else first. Certain puzzle props or rearrangement of the order could also prevent this confusion in the game flow. Some props could be refurbished as we were not use to how much "force" we had to use to pop open something. Later on in the game, we couldn't really hear the speaker from another part of the room. It would be great if the speakers could be heard throughout the game, but this could be due to a malfunction just on that day. 🏹 TAKE A SHOT? This game was our favorite airplane themed room so far. The puzzles and set design was as real as it can get to a real life situation. The urgency was definitely felt by us and we were very eager to escape. This was one of those games where I was glad it's just a game and not something I'll have to experience ever in real life. If you like to travel by flying and want to experience a little challenge while airborne (well maybe a bit more than a challenge...), then it's time for you to board "Flight 301" !
