The playful tone throughout is what you’d expect from Bluefish. You'll need internet access to listen to the audio clips and check your answers. While there are audio transcripts provided, trust us, you want to listen! The voice acting is top-notch, delivering just the right balance of humor, mystery, and theatrical flair. The narrative itself is a joy, full of Hincksian absurdity, though it’s more of a delightful bonus (and adds a deductive mystery component). The content itself isn’t required for solving the puzzles though the structure of the final cliffhanger sentence can be helpful. Overall, though, no need to take notes during these interludes - just sit back and enjoy the story! Each of the five envelopes is packed with multiple “reference pages” that ultimately lead to a single answer. Since every envelope is self-contained, you can pause between sections… in theory. In practice, we found ourselves saying, just one more envelope! Each section takes about 30-45 minutes, but the format makes it easy to play at your own pace. You’re specifically provided with a place to record your answers for each of the five envelopes, leading us to expect a final meta puzzle…but, alas, no. (Unless we have somehow missed it…) Mr. Hincks left us wanting more (as usual). You can play without destroying anything, so the game can then be shared with others. It’s a pure paper puzzling experience, but one packed with variety. As is typical for Bluefish, the puzzles are also clearly very well play-tested, cleanly designed, and well signposted. We didn’t always know what to do immediately, but we were always sure once we had it! They are self-contained, without need for outside knowledge. Within each envelope, some puzzles do build off of others. So, if one puzzle has you stumped, try another! That one might provide the info you need for the first. However, each envelope in all stands alone. We didn’t need any hints (though one puzzle did require an overnight break), but we checked out the hint system after the fact and it provides well-structured, tiered hints, with full solutions available if needed. While the game is very approachable for enthusiasts (with perhaps easy to moderate difficulty levels), it’s not necessarily the best starting point for absolute beginners. If you haven’t yet played The Curious Elevator of Mr. Hincks, we’d recommend starting there. While The Curious Elevator of Mr. Hincks still holds the top Bluefish spot in our hearts, this was another great time in Hincks universe. Best suited for puzzle lovers rather than those looking for elaborate reveals, ephemera, or 3D puzzles, it’s a perfect date-night activity and also family-friendly for older kids. Did we want more? Always. Did we laugh and grin our way through every moment? Absolutely. Highly recommended for anyone who loves their puzzles with a side of whimsy. Most of the escape rooms are in the basement, with a couple of exceptions. On the main floor, there’s a lounge with a small selection of games, cozy couches for relaxing with some cocktails and appies, and tables for enjoying a full meal. The second floor features axe throwing and an intriguing experience we had never heard of before, " Darts Reimagined ". We were brought upstairs to our designated dart lane and given a quick introduction to the game, including how to use the touchscreen to enter names and different gameplay modes. A nearby table allowed us to order food to keep our energy up while we played (The pizza and nachos were our choice of snacks with no regrets). Through some magic and wizardry, the game automatically tracked our scores. We would simply throw the darts and retrieve them for the next player. " Darts Reimagined " offered several game modes, including Fill’er Up, a beginner-friendly take on classic darts without the double-in, double-out rule, and Monster Mash, which turned darts into a strategic territory control game. One of the highlights came at the end of Fill’er Up when the system captured and replayed the winning throw. " Darts Reimagined " took everything we love about darts and automated the things we don’t, like keeping score and tracking turns, so we could focus on simply having fun. The touchscreen was intuitive, the environment was safe, the variation of games kept things exciting and the whole experience was so memorable. Honestly, after trying " Darts Reimagined ", I can’t imagine playing darts any other way! We appreciated the authentic Japanese elements integrated into the game, such as the ninja star, scrolls, and tea ceremony. It is evident that the game designers invested significant effort in researching the daily lives of ninjas. The physical challenges we encountered were highly enjoyable, as they mirrored the obstacles a ninja would likely face to pass their tests. We were particularly impressed by the incorporation of Japanese cultural characters into the puzzles, which enhanced the feeling of being in a traditional Japanese village. One puzzle reveal included an element that felt "magical," which we found to be a brilliant addition to the theme. 🧩   MISSED THE MARK The finale appeared somewhat hurried and could benefit from a more celebratory atmosphere. We were unable to physically place the crucial item needed to trigger the conclusion, yet it prematurely indicated our escape. The Game Master mentioned that proximity was sufficient, but this diminished the sense of completion. 🏹 TAKE A SHOT? If you're eager to unleash your inner ninja and see if you have what it takes, this room is the perfect place to make that dream a reality! Get ready to be challenged on your physical agility and your cleverness in solving puzzles. Japan is an incredible country, and I'm absolutely captivated by its culture. The game featured a mechanism that was quite entertaining to "operate," and the input and output provided us with some chuckles. We liked solving a puzzle by connecting the visual clue with the hints we gathered from different parts of the room and then assembling the story. There was an interesting way that required us to collaborate as a team to solve a visual puzzle. 🧩 MISSED THE MARK One of the picture clues was quite confusing because its position could easily be linked with the locks and other clues in the area. This made us think it was a more complex multi-step puzzle rather than requiring a simple solution. However, the simple solution also lacked an "explanation" for what we needed to input. The wording on one of the mechanisms was unclear about what we were supposed to do with the solution we had found. An instruction pamphlet was missing a step. We eventually figured it out, but it would be helpful to include it. The ending felt like a "cliffhanger" because we would have preferred to see the finale rather than just "feel" it. We were unsure if we had completed everything we needed to do until the game master came in. 🏹 TAKE A SHOT? This game evoked nostalgic memories of puzzles commonly used in other escape rooms. As an older game acquired by The Escape Ventures from Escape Goat some time ago, it falls slightly short in creativity compared to their own offerings. The game flow and clues were somewhat misaligned, but overall, we appreciated the concept. It serves well as an introductory experience for newcomers to the escape room scene. I highly recommend kicking off your adventure here before diving into their other locations for an eye-opening experience! The first is the Game Master’s booklet, providing the adult with a detailed walkthrough of the game and setup. The other 2 files included the game pack, where one was in full, vibrant color and detailed design, while the other was more ink friendly for your printer. For UK residents without a printer, they also have a “Delivery Pack” option, where you will receive the printed documents shipped to your door as well as a “Delivery Xtra” pack, which will include the documents shipped as well as some easter bags, certificates, stickers and other fun goodies. The booklet suggests a setup time of about 30 minutes, but I found it takes closer to 45 minutes, especially with all the cutting required. On top of that, there are some nifty items that will need to be assembled, which if glue is used, will take time to dry. My advice would be to give yourself ample time for setting up or consider setting up the night before. As the Game Master, start by reading through the booklet to understand the flow of the story and puzzles. Once complete, begin with the preparation of the game. The kids had a lot of fun with this game. The story was fun and lighthearted but immersive, especially with the full color documents and items. The game also made use of QR codes to substitute some solutions out and for a timer, to add a little tech to the game. One standout feature that Paper Adventure does well is that with just paper, each game comes with a fun 3D piece. Though it takes a little more time to build, it is well worth the effort. As one of the last rooms we played, we were truly impressed by its scale. With unexpected new areas continuously revealing themselves, the excitement never waned. The atmosphere is masterfully crafted, delivering a truly haunting experience that keeps players on edge. The uncertainty of when—or if—the next jump scare would occur kept the tension high, especially with the game master occasionally appearing in character as a paranormal entity. Combined with meticulously designed sets, eerie lighting, and spine-chilling sound effects, the game fully immerses players in its supernatural world. The puzzles are seamlessly woven into the narrative, requiring logical thinking, keen observation, and strong teamwork. We especially appreciated how each task served a purpose in advancing the story, gradually revealing the dark and tragic past of the house’s former inhabitants. This level of story-driven puzzle design is not easy to achieve, yet Paranormal does it exceptionally well. The sheer number of puzzles was impressive, making this room feel longer and more content-rich than the average escape game. We progressed at a steady pace, yet still finished with just four minutes to spare—a true nail-biter that kept us engaged until the very last second. More than anything, Paranormal is a storytelling masterpiece. From beginning to end, the narrative remains the driving force of the experience, making the process of uncovering the family’s chilling history one of the most rewarding aspects of the game. 🧩 MISSED THE MARK While the set design, atmosphere, and storytelling were all outstanding, a few puzzles felt unnecessarily finicky or overly sensitive. For instance, certain mechanics required extreme precision or had hidden timing constraints that weren’t immediately clear. This led to moments of frustration, as we lost time repeating tasks without knowing what we had done wrong. In these instances, game master intervention became necessary, but it felt like it shouldn’t have been. A clearer indication of failure conditions would greatly improve the experience. 🏹 TAKE A SHOT? While " Paranormal " was our second favorite overall at Secret Clue, it was undoubtedly the most immersive and atmospheric of the five games we played. If you're brave enough to confront the spirits within, this is a must-play escape room. That said, the fear factor isn't overwhelming, making it accessible even to those who might not usually go for horror-themed rooms. As the main player, I shared my screen with everyone. The game starts off with a detailed tutorial taking us through all the requirements needed for the best gameplay experience. It also introduces us to the backpack feature, which gives all the players access to the evidence collected through the game. Once everything was set up, we dove into the game. First off, the graphics and cut scenes were seamless and beautifully crafted. They were smooth to watch and listen to with their professional voiceovers. It felt cinematic, that I could easily watch this as a movie. The story was everything you’d expect from a true Sherlock mystery, as engaging as something straight out of a novel. Knowing that Wolf Escape Games composes their own music, it’s no surprise that the soundtrack was spot-on, setting the exact mood for the game. Even the sound effects were impressive. We have never been so excited to turn a lock just to hear the satisfying clink. The lasers were not entirely visible throughout the space, forcing our group to guess their positions rather than maneuver through them with precision. While this didn’t make the puzzle unsolvable, it did take away from the cinematic thrill of the moment, which could have been even more spectacular with a clearer visual element. 🏹 TAKE A SHOT? " The Vault " is an escape experience that makes you feel like the star of a high-stakes heist movie. From the moment you step into the heart of Amsterdam, you're drawn into an undercover operation that blends deception, strategy, and action seamlessly. The setting itself is a standout feature—breaking into a nearly 100-year-old vault adds an extra layer of authenticity that few escape rooms can match. The game does a fantastic job of balancing cinematic storytelling with interactive gameplay, giving players the chance to step into their roles and uncover their characters' motivations. The puzzles are engaging, though some proved to be more challenging than exhilarating, occasionally slowing the momentum. The laser maze, a key highlight, had an exciting concept but lacked full visibility, making it harder to live out that perfect "Mission Impossible" moment. While the roleplay elements were well-executed, they left us wanting a bit more immersion through actor-driven interactions. That being said, The Vault is an excellent introduction to the world of cinematic escape rooms, especially for teams of four. Many props were used, all perfectly suited to the magical theme. Some puzzles required players to actually perform a magic trick, which was ingenious. Certain moments of insight, when a mystery was unraveled, seemed as if a "spirit" played a role—or was it magic? Either way, we were delightfully surprised. 🧩 MISSED THE MARK Some props need updating. One in particular was essential for revealing a clue, but the wording was so worn out that it was hard to see, especially in dim lighting. This room could benefit from more storyline rather than just solving one puzzle after another. We weren't clear on why the theater is haunted or what the final action accomplished as a conclusion. One of the props was used twice for puzzles, which could be easily overlooked by experienced players accustomed to a "one and done" rule. Some props for the final puzzle were introduced too early. We were unsure how to use them and wasted time trying to incorporate them into the current puzzles we needed to solve. 🏹 TAKE A SHOT? Just like Houdini's fascination with locks, there's a treasure trove of mystery to explore in this room! While it may not boast high-tech gadgets, it brilliantly weaves basic magic tricks into a charmingly simple setting. Animatronic characters not only guided us through the experience but also advanced the story in an immersive way that made us feel like we were part of the story. This was an all-tech experience with puzzles that left us in awe for their creativity and blended into the environment and fit into the story. The puzzles also were designed to encourage teamwork and group effort. One tech puzzle that stood out had a nice hint mechanism in it that rather than tell us an answer, had the puzzle change slightly to nudge us in the right direction. 🧩 MISSED THE MARK This was an amazing experience with no major misses. 🏹 TAKE A SHOT? This was a fully immersive experience with its deep storytelling, breathtaking room design, and beautiful animatronics that we would expect at Disney. The narrative was engaging and we continued to see it unfold with cutscenes throughout. The puzzles blended into the environment and fit right along with the story. The game says it could fit 8 players but there were some areas that even with 5 players, it felt like it was tight. The decor in the professor's office, with all those quirky map and artifact collections, made us feel like real explorers right away. Some puzzles felt more like a "treasure hunt" than your standard ones, which totally fit the game's theme. A fun physical puzzle near the end was perfect for both small and big groups of players. Everything we had to read was actually helpful for solving puzzles, so we didn't get bogged down with too much info. The task of "completing" and finding the missing artifact was an awesome way to wrap up the game. 🧩 MISSED THE MARK The doors in the game could look more like a "portals" instead of just regular office doors. There was a deduction puzzle in the game where the wording of the clues could be clearer. We got mixed up with the different ways to interpret some "clue definitions," so we had to ask the game masters for help. It might also be useful to show how many inputs there are and how often they'll be used. 🏹 TAKE A SHOT? This jungle adventure is ideal for players who enjoy treasure and puzzle hunting. There are numerous details to observe both within the professor's office and in the jungle. The mission to obtain the final piece of treasure is challenging, but the sense of achievement upon securing it is immensely rewarding. They are located on the side of a main street with street parking on Wyoming Avenue and in the rear (make sure to only park in the spots marked “visitors”). Currently, they have three escape rooms plus a children’s escape room. We only have time to tackle one of them and of course we picked the most challenging one - “Survival”. The lobby was very spacious and they have a lot of space in the back as well. The theme of this room reminded me of the TV show “Lost”. Our plane crashed and we were lucky enough to survive but now we’re stuck on a deserted island. We discovered that there’s an actual ship that’s miles offshore, so our mission is to get to the ship and sail away and save ourselves. Video above is property of ESCAPETHEROOMers Our first impression of the room when we entered was that it’s very colorful and the developers were definitely trying to go for the ocean feel. There were a few pieces of the puzzle that we didn’t think fit the storyline like a clock which would probably not be on a deserted island. It would be great if the props used could stick to the realistic situation which most of them did. The ambience from room-to-room could be improved to open a “new world” or tell a different story each time. Lighting and sound may be able to assist with improving that aspect. Since the structure of the building is what it is, we understand its quite difficult to cover up or make the rooms seamless to the game flow. It would be interesting to see what this room would become next with a new concept perhaps that can fit into the utilization of this actual space with a more logic theme. You should leave plenty of time for the last part of the game. The puzzles are not difficult but definitely time consuming. We were a minute away from solving the last puzzle. Our recommended size for this room is 4-6 as you can divide and conquer especially in the last room.  There was not much high tech involved in this room but their pricing for the escape rooms are very generous in comparison to most of the escape rooms out there. We were able to take a peek at their other rooms and their newest room “The Holding Cell” looked like a nice step up from “Survival”. It genuinely felt as though we were Mario and Luigi, partly due to our height difference. Anticipating the design of the subsequent rooms was one of the most enjoyable aspects of the experience. The transitions between rooms were executed seamlessly. Each room featured a unique method of opening the door to the next, maintaining consistency with its individual theme. The puzzles were highly inventive. Some impressed us with their technical complexity, while others stood out for the craftsmanship of the props themselves. We had an amusing moment when we believed we had bypassed a "shortcut," only to discover that everyone was required to take the longer route. Despite this, it was an enjoyable attempt. The final "exit" of the game was skillfully designed to integrate our previous experiences, creating a cohesive meta puzzle that culminated in a satisfying conclusion. The game flow was smooth, and we never needed to pause for clarification. Despite the bizarre nature of the experience, everything made sense as they were simply peculiar dreams within Mr. Bestunkovich's mind. 🧩   MISSED THE MARK This game is almost perfect for us, except for one sequence that leads to a solution, which we found a bit lengthy, especially considering the possible challenge in understanding the actual clue. Shortening the sequence might help more players successfully escape the game. It is certainly a game that players should fully experience! 🏹 TAKE A SHOT? Creating this room must have been an absolute blast, as it seamlessly blends so many dream elements into one exhilarating experience! One moment, you'll feel like you're in a video game, and the next, you're transported into a laboratory. What on earth is Mr. Bestunkovich dreaming up every day? The game is both challenging and thrilling, packed with heart-pounding moments that make you feel like you're in an endless book with chapters that could go on forever. Every time I opened a new realm, I couldn't help but think, "How many rooms are left after this one?" Secretly, I hoped it would never end because we were having such a fantastic time uncovering a new mission each time. It felt like multiple escape rooms rolled into one epic adventure. If you're new to escape rooms, I definitely recommend starting with their other games and bringing along a few seasoned players for this one, as it's quite challenging. We spent about 70 minutes, and even as experienced players, we were stumped by one of the dream sequences at the beginning. This truly was a "dream" come true for enthusiasts like us!
